The Toronto Fall Home Show 2018 – ReCap

RENO & DECOR Magazine presented:“Design Intervention”

Kristiina Roosimaa – RENO & DECOR booth designer

I am grateful for Reno&Decor, who gave me a great opportunity to design their 2018 Fall Home Show booth.

In my perspective the booth was an absolute pearl at the show this year with its Scandinavian aesthetics and feel. I had a wonderful chance to work with a Danish furniture company Bo Concept Toronto and their team who sponsored the interior setting with furniture and accessories.

To my pleasant surprise the walls for the created room settings all came pre-prepped with my specific instructions for painting which was sponsored by Benjamin Moore. In my opinion it is a great platform for the designers and sponsors who make this happen a great opportunity to be seen.

Thank You again for the opportunity.

Rebecca Hay Designs – National Home Show/RENO & DECOR Booth inspired by classic and casual lakeside living.

Rebecca Hay Designs is pleased to announce we will be providing the design creation for the upcoming Design Intervention booth #4118 at the National Home Show.

Muskoka inspired and naturally nautical, I based the RENO & DECOR booth’s decor scheme on this classic summer home aesthetic. We have incoproated walls in painted white shiplap to add textural interest while creating a relaxed cottage living atmosphere. The crisp white walls will be balanced by the soft and varied wood tones of the furniture which was all selected from our furniture sponsor this year UpCountry and added in some fun custom hand printed pillows by Cottage Cloth which emphasize the nautical theme and easy going vibe.

We created these outdoor living spaces by adding a rich night sky mural provided by Ruth Baker Design and paired it with outdoor furnishings to simulate lakeside summer living. A custom “boathouse” bar was designed to create an outdoor entertaining zone, built by Pure Kitchens and paired with sleek black stone counters from Select Granite and a luxe faucet from Watermarks. In addition to comfortable indoor/outdoor living and entertaining, we wanted to include a bedroom vignette. With a buffalo check pattern created by Peacock Living, the walls are graphic, bold and fun.

The booth showcases a glimpse into lakeside living at it’s best.

Come visit me and the team while at the National Home Show this March and get design inspired!

On Monday, March 13 @ 2pm and Friday, March 16 @ 2pm – be sure to catch Rebecca on stage along with Kate Davidson and Linda Mazur as part of RENO & DECOR’s “Designer Panel”. The panel will be discussing “Realities Of A Reno”

Regardless of the size of your project or the footprint of your space, creating  a beautiful and luxurious aesthetic in our homes can be accomplished with a well laid out plan.  Style and luxury is not determined by the size of your space, but the design.  We can garner inspiration by all that we see, but realism is always necessary when renovating, not only about the space you’re working with but also your budget.  A good design can deliver all that your heart desires while creating for you a wonderfully luxurious, relaxing and inviting home that reflects your individuality and needs for years to come.

If you’re considering an upcoming renovation, join GTA designers Linda Mazur, Rebecca Hay, Kate Davidson at the National Home Show stage, where this panel of designers will be discussing how to make the most of your upcoming home renovations without compromising on luxury, style or functionality.  They will take you through the key aspects of renovating, share their top renovation strategies as well as fave kitchen, bath and home products to consider including in your homes in 2018.  Get inspired and reno ready in 2018!

GTA Home & Reno Show 2018 – ReCap

RENO & DECOR Magazine presents “Design Intervention

Visitors to the Design Intervention booth were treated to a combination of design advice and inspiration. The advice was courtesy of our host of design experts that were on hand to provide free 15 minute consultations. The inspiration was provided by the amazing booth space designed by Kate Davidson of Kate & Co Design Inc.. Using furnishings and accessories from Casalife and custom murals from Ruth Baker Design, Kate was able to create a beautiful, open space full of colour.

I took a different design approach when designing this years booth for Reno & Decor and created one space two ways. As a designer I like to work with colour and textures and tried to showcase how designing with colour can effect how we interpret our living spaces. Working with Casalife furnishings we created two cohesive looks from one living, dining and work spaces. One space was more moody with richer dark tones, while the other side was created using softer visual materials creating a light and airy feel.”

Toronto Fall Home Show 2017 – ReCap

teb Interiors Inc. had the distinct honour of designing this years RENO & DECOR Design Intervention booth at the 2017 Fall Home Show and I have to say that it was an exhilarating experience.  It was an amazing creative outlet for us to help bend minds into thinking outside of the box. We have always been about trying to expand people’s thoughts and take them beyond their comfort zone and to not have so much fear about what other people will think of your space.

Allow your personality to shine through and let everyone else see it and embrace it.  You’re worth it!

Of course, this was not a one man show.  First of all, HOMES Publishing Group allowed us full freedom on whatever we could conjure up without any road blocks, so that opened the flood gates.  We received an overwhelming amount of support from some of our suppliers like, Rustik Design who, on top of enchanting the booth walls with his own artwork, custom made all the little skull corner pieces that complimented all the panel moulding that wrapped the booth.  Speaking of the panel moulding, Metrie is now our favourite ‘go to’ for moulding and doors.  They were more than willing to shower us with all the baseboard and panel moulding we needed to accomplish our goals.  The we needed to fill the space with furniture so in true fashion, our close friends at Design Republic stepped up to the plate and gave us anything and everything we needed.  Digging those rustic and industrial light fixtures?  Those are the brain children of Adam Fullerton, make sure you check out his Instagram, especially the custom ceiling light fixture he created out of a vintage Drum kit.  But I have to say that the one thing that reached out and lured people to the booth had to be the custom wallpapers.  Especially the Wonder Woman vignette.  Ruth Baker Design and teb Interiors Inc. are a force not to be reckoned with when it comes to creating outstanding custom wallpapers and murals.  I double dog dare you to argue that point.

Was it exhausting?  Hell, yeah.  Would we do it again?  Abso-freaking-lutely.  You may just see us again sooner than you think.

BOOTH DESIGNER

A word from Terry Edward Briceland:

“Our obsession is to straddle the fence between mainstream and obscure, blur the lines of masculine and feminine and fuse the dignified with the ridiculous. If it doesn’t evoke emotion or debate, we haven’t done our job or achieved our goal.”

Does he look familiar to you?  He should.  With over 15 years of experience, you have either seen him out and about in Toronto or on your TV screen on shows like ‘Take This House & Sell It!’, ‘Rooms That Rock’, ‘Design Interns’, ‘Disaster D.I.Y.’, ‘Movie Style’, ‘Cityline’, ‘The Marilyn Denis Show’, ‘Divine Design’ and ‘Candice Tells All’.  Some of his designs have also been in Home Décor magazines like ‘RENO & DECOR’, ‘Canadian Home Trends’, ‘House and Home’ and ‘Style At Home.’  And who could forget the 3-page interview in ‘Sew News Magazine’ where he revealed that he sews in his underwear while listening to loud music.

National Home Show 2017 – ReCap

The Reno and Decor booth for the National Home show was a wonderful opportunity to have visitors to the show experience two very different colour pallets and to visually get the answers to questions they often struggle with at home.  Each side was like two separate pages of the magazine but each designed and styled beautifully.

The ideas of good design are consistent regardless of whether a homeowner wishes to like in that colour palette.  Being able to work with a variety of attendees of the “Design Intervention” workshops in an environment that often exemplified the answers to challenges was amazingly helpful.

The caliber of questions and the preparation that went into the questions, made it very clear that many many people  can use the assistance of a design professional, regardless of the size of the project.  It was a wonderful collection of extremely talented design professionals we are proud to call colleagues and friends.  This was a success for the magazine, for the consumers and for the design professionals who worked on the space and with those consumers.

GTA Home & Reno Show 2017 – ReCap

This past GTA Home and Reno Show was a great launch to this year’s renovation season.  We were the proud designer of Reno & Decor’s Design Intervention booth that not only hosted many talented designer friends but also many of you seeking design advice for your projects.  We took our cue from small space design for this year’s booth featuring many of the current inspirational trends and colours.

We enjoyed working with the Reno & Decor staff who have made this a fun and rewarding experience.  I’d also like to extend a big thank you to all our sponsors for their dedication and participation:  Casa Life, Quartex Surfaces, Alendel Fabrics, Cardoza Custom Woodworking, Renwil, Eventful PR, Specialty House Manufacturing, Ruth Baker Design, Artistic Stone Design, Benjamin Moore and Bousada Flooring.

Here’s hoping the home show was inspirational and happy renovating!

RENO & DECOR booth designer was Linda Mazur. Linda is a nationally publicized designer and Principal of Linda Mazur Design Group. With almost two decades of experience, this in demand multi-disciplinary design firm is known for creating relaxed stylish spaces and full-scale design builds within Toronto, the GTA and throughout Canada.
