Stay connected on site
Yesterday, we told you about DeWalt’s Tool Connect platform. Tool Connect is the first phase of DeWalt’s plan to bring “the internet of things” to the jobsite.
“Leveraging technology, our goal is to provide solutions for gathering in-depth jobsite data for better decision-making by general contractors and trade contractors, thus enhancing productivity and safety,” says Tony Nicolaidis, vice-president of marketing for connected systems.
Increasingly, our smartphones and other electronic devices are becoming some of the most important tools on the job. DeWalt’s Jobsite Wifi (launching in July 2018) will be a durable hub that will enable everyone on a jobsite to access and share project plans, 3D models, change orders, and punch lists.
One company testing the system in a pilot project claimed they were able to shave 2 percent off the budget simply by eliminating “walking around time.”
