Squeak Knights offers a cost-effective solution to silencing squeaky floors and stairs without renovations or floor replacement
The father-son led company previously called Silent Floor Solutions are now rebranding their flooring company as Squeak Knights. Co-founders Lev Remennik and Mark Remennik now look forward to taking their innovative and cost-effective service to cities across the country by franchising the company starting in surrounding areas around the Golden Horseshoe and Southern Ontario. Squeak Knights, who provide the first truly Canadian solution to very Canadian problem, is best known for treating squeaky floors and stairs without invasive repair or renovation.
Since launching in 2009, these “knights in shining armour” have saved nearly a thousand homes of their pesky creaks using their proprietary and expertly engineered technology, which has been featured on major outlets including HGTV, CityLine, CP24 , Toronto Sun, BlogTO, NewsTalk1010 and more.
With creaky stairs and achy floors a common problem in many homes, Squeak Knights has developed a proven approach to fixing the problem without replacing the floor – debunking any misconceptions that large-scale renovations are the only option. Using proprietary engineered technology developed by Lev and Mark, Squeak Knights expertly applies a specifically developed adhesive throughout the layers of the floor and subfloor in order to eliminate the squeaks in a home. Without compromising the integrity of the floor, the adhesive is applied through strategically drilled holes which are later finished to visually blend in with the original appearance of the floor.
Unlike popular DIY projects that can leave the floors damaged or further aggravate the sound, the results by Squeak Knights are high quality and professional. The process also strengthens and stabilizes the entire floor in a way that prevents the problem from recurring again. Their technology is highly versatile and can be used on stairs and a variety of floor types including hardwood, parquet, carpet, linoleum and many more.
How it all started
The inception of Squeak Knights was a product of Lev’s personal frustrations with squeaky floors in his own home. He had a particularly noisy spot on his parquet floor which often interrupted his wife’s sleep.
Desperate to find a solution, Lev consulted multiple experts on how to fix the problem and was often told the only thing he could do was get new floors. Frustrated by the lack of solutions and hearing that it cannot be done, Lev decided to look into creating a solution of his own. Being a mechanical engineer, he tested various methods on the squeak in his home until the squeak was gone for good. After refining his technique and testing it in other areas of his home, Lev and his son Mark decided to take their service to the market and start Squeak Knights, originally Silent Floor Solutions. Now with almost ten years under their belts, almost a thousand homes relieved of their creaky floors and with a reputation to back them, this family-led business looks forward to expanding beyond the GTA in the near future.
