The Hart Haus Condominiums offers an exciting and exclusive opportunity to enjoy convenient living just steps to shopping, boutiques, cafes, restaurants and services in this historic village. Century-old streets and buildings form the perfect backdrop for Hart Haus' classic heritage-designed, extensively landscaped exterior. Ledgemark Homes' intimate boutique condominium of just 14 elegant suites has already attracted a lot of interest, largely from Unionville residents who want to stay in the area they love while enjoying the carefree condo lifestyle.George Le Donne, president of Ledgemark Homes and co-founder of Del Ridge GreenLife, lives around the corner from The Hart Haus Condominiums, and has taken special care to ensure the residence will fit in seamlessly with its surroundings. The design is the result of a collaboration between accomplished lead architect John McAlpine from KLMA, and renowned heritage consultants, ERA Architects, as well as extensive involvement from the City of Markham. Unionville has a rich history of German settlers, so the condominium name uses the spelling 'Haus.' We have named all of our designs after original Unionville settlers: Crosby, Eckhardt, Stiver and Berczy. We are proud to build a residence that will enhance the streetscape and lifestyle in Unionville."For interiors, he enlisted well-respected Toronto-based Karen Kayne Design to create practical layouts that are both functional and fabulous, and to help select finishes for the suites and amenities. Residents will have the use of an amenity room with catering kitchen, fitness centre and yoga studio. Standard suites include 10-ft. coffered ceilings throughout, crown moulding and custom upgraded kitchens with quartz countertops."We have carefully selected finishings with the least amount of impact to our environment. Ledgemark Homes is all about respect for the environment and sustainability," Le Donne points out. "The Hart Haus Condominiums will be the most sustainable building of its kind in a heritage environment."Ledgemark Homes is known for its LivGreen ecological friendly communities. "We will reduce energy consumption by 80 per cent, well beyond what is stipulated in the Ontario Building Code," Le Donne adds. "We accomplish this through our construction systems and state-of-the-art building technologies such as ground source (geothermal) heating and cooling, graphite infused Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF), triple glazed windows, triple the required roof insulation, split-level LED lighting systems, and the use of renewable resources such as solar and wind. This approach produces some of the lowest condo fees in Canada and significantly lower energy consumption for decreased utility costs. We are setting the bar for sustainability in Unionville." To combine sustainability with heritage design, the Ledgemark team has gone so far as to camouflage solar panels by placing them behind the parapets in the building's Mansard roof, and is working with the City of Markham to add solar to City buildings to further reduce its carbon footprint by providing clean energy.Suites range in size from 1,530 to 1,558 sq. ft., and begin in price from $1.54 million.George Le Donne and his team have been building in the GTA for more than 25 years, focusing primarily on craftsmanship and sustainability. "How a building performs from a sustainability perspective is equally as important as its appearance. I want to leave a legacy for generations to come."To explore all that The Hart House Condominiums has to offer, go to livgreen.ca or visit the visit the presentation centre, located at 206 Main St. in Unionville, behind the historical Stiver House.
