Roger Razon of Razon Construction in Surrey, B.C., shares this quick tip for minor drywall repairs.

Let’s say you have a 4″x 4″ hole on the wall to x. Cut out a 41/2″ x 41/2″ piece of drywall. Score half inch around the edges with a utility knife, then carefully remove the compound until you exposed the back of the paper. Then all you have to do is put patching compound around the damaged area, slap your piece in place, and remove the excess compound.
