Emerald City a shining example of how to develop a master-planned community

Over a decade ago, Elad boldly entered the GTA’s new home industry with foresight, envisioning a sparkling new inclusive master-planned community in the North York area known as Emerald City, where there previously existed an older residential neighbourhood of rental towers.

Employing the experience the company obtained in Montreal, New York, the United States in general and overseas, Emerald City soon became a landmark on the southeast corner of Don Mills Road and Sheppard Avenue East.

Today, the emerging master-planned community of Emerald City continues to offer a wonderfully rewarding lifestyle option with the sales launch of The Point. This is the second of three planned Block C towers and the eighth condo tower in the Emerald City community. The Point joins The Peak, which is the nearly sold-out tower that launched earlier this year.

There are three completed and occupied residential towers in Block A and Block B has a trio of towers that are sold out and under construction. A spectacular Community Centre opened in the fall of 2015, with an adjoining YMCA-run childcare. This summer, a large outdoor community pool became a welcome addition to the neighbourhood.

Building on the proven track record of Blocks A and B, as well as The Peak launched in February 2017, the desirability of the latest condominium – The Point – is off the charts. “The strong success relates to the fundamentals,” Duchovny says. “This is a 416 location, and living in Toronto now is so expensive, but we’re still offering built-in value at excellent prices. Emerald City is conveniently close to the subway, to major highways, to downtown, to everything. And the neighbourhood amenities here are incredible. Fairview Mall alone offers everything you need.”

Adding to the excitement of The Point’s launch is the opening of the completed Parkway Forest Community Centre that serves Emerald City residents and beyond. Existing and future condo residents will appreciate the full complement of choices available in both their building and the broader neighbourhood. The outdoor pool — recently opened with a visit from Mayor John Tory — now provides area families a welcome new way to beat the heat as part of its 5,000-square-foot aquatic centre, and when combined with the community centre which has a full-size gymnasium, running track, commercial teaching kitchen and teaching garden, and youth lounge this is a true hub for the neighbourhood.

“It’s important to Elad to build the community,” Duchovny says. “Seeing the kids playing in the pool, we know that our residents will have a vibrant community life. For us, that’s a huge piece of the puzzle. The community centre is a great way to bring together renters, owners, shopkeepers and everyone else who helps make this North York neighbourhood so dynamic.”
