DRHBA Press Release Aug. 8, 2017-Durham Region
Durham Region Home Builders’ Association (DRHBA) held their 52nd Annual Golf Classic on Tuesday, August 8, at Deer Creek Golf and Banquet Facility.
It was a beautiful, hot, sunny day for the popular event.
“Our annual golf tournament is a good opportunity for people in the building industry to network together, build relationships and help support a good cause in Durham Region,” said committee chairperson Marianne Tracey.
Ms. Tracey has organized the event for the past eleven years. “We had the best turnout in years! A lot of our newer members were out today, both golfing and with displays and goodies at various holes around the course. It was great to see a lot of new faces, as well as many familiar faces.” she said.
This year DRHBA donated $10,000 to Habitat for Humanity Durham.
DRHBA golfers were happy to contribute to Habitat, after all the day was packed with fun events such as trick golfer Todd Keirstead who has performed all over the world. Voted Trick Shot of the Year on The Golf Channel, golfers watched in fascination and trepidation as Todd whacked golf balls off of their body as they lay on the ground.
Another highlight for the golfers was a Cadillac golf cart donated for the day by CRS Contractors Rental Supply Ltd., which was raffled off just before the golfers headed out to play. It was won by Glenda Kruska and Ben Chatten.
The ladies longest drives were captured by Shannon Bertuzzi and Margaret Cox while men’s longest drives went to Nolan Luska and Dante Niro.
Ladies closest to the pin was won by Joelle Dowling while men’s closest to the pin was awarded to John Taylor and Derek Ross.
Ken Russell, President of DRHBA, thanked Marianne Tracey and Jennifer Hurd and their team for organizing the enjoyable event, as well as the numerous sponsors who helped make it a success.
DRHBA is an association composed of home builders and related companies in Durham Region. They have been an active voice for housing choice, affordability, green initiatives and innovation for 63 years.
