Exciting announcement offers even more opportunity at Daniels Waterfront – City of the Arts

Recently, the roster of community partners at Daniels Waterfront – City of the Arts expanded to encompass a brand new, exciting educational opportunity.
George Brown College announced that they will be expanding their Waterfront Campus, to be located in the heart of Daniels Waterfront. With over 100,000 square feet of space, George Brown's $59 million facility will house part of its School of Design, including their interdisciplinary design studio 'Institute without Boundaries'. George Brown will also be introducing the 'Innovation Exchange' focused on design solutions for the smart economy, which has received $15.6 million in support from the federal government's Post-Secondary Institutions Strategic Investment Fund.

"We are thrilled to welcome George Brown College to Daniels Waterfront – City of the Arts," said Martin Blake, vice president of The Daniels Corporation, which is developing this mixed-use, master-planned waterfront community in partnership with WJ Properties. "The expansion of their Waterfront Campus and their Innovation Exchange takes our partnership to a new level, serving the needs of the design, arts and digital media sectors, and enabling Torontonians to live, work, play, learn and create at Daniels Waterfront."During construction, approximately 650 jobs will be created, and once opened, the facility will have 300 faculty and staff, and each year, approximately 1,800 students will study at the School of Design. George Brown College will be an integral new part of 130 Queens Quay East, which is Toronto's first Waterfront office condominium located within Daniels Waterfront. 130 QQE will also be home to Artscape's headquarters and their innovative "Launchpad" initiative, Colleges Ontario, OCAD University and RBC. Non-profit organizations The Remix Project and Manifesto will relocate there as well, along with The Daniels Corporation.The array of local amenities is an obvious attraction as the first residential condominium, Lighthouse West Tower, is nearly sold out.
