Celebrating quality and professionalism at the annual ceremony

On March 10, BILD members gathered at the Allstream Centre at Exhibition Place where the top renovators and custom home builders in the GTA were recognized at the Renovation and Custom Home Awards by the Building Industry and Land Development Association (BILD).

Created by BILD in 1999, the awards program recognizes professional renovators for professionalism, quality of work and industry leadership. Nominees are evaluated by a team of industry professionals and the Renovator of the Year award is also decided based on survey results from clients.

“This year’s winners demonstrate the importance of working with professional renovators and custom builders while raising the bar for the rest of the industry,” said BILD vice-president of membership and RenoMark program manager Helen Batista. “As the RenoMark program grows, so does the quality of the submissions we receive every year.”

The Renovator of the Year award, which recognizes the renovator who sets the standard for the rest of the sector in their leadership and commitment to customer service and their contribution to the overall image of the renovation industry, was presented to Men at Work Design Build Ltd.

Besides receiving the top honour of Renovator of the Year title, Men at Work Design Build Ltd. also earned two other prestigious awards this year in both the $75,000 to $150,000 best renovation category as well as the $300,000 to $500,000 competition.

There was also a tie in the $500,000+ category this year. Jim Cunningham of Eurodale Developments was named Member of the Year. Cunningham has been a member of the BILD for over a decade and has been the recipient of the Renovator of the Year award three times since 2010.

Lou Frustaglio of Dreambuilders Inc. and Frank Cohn of Cohn Construction were inducted into BILD’s Hall of Fame. Frustaglio is a longstanding member of the renovation community and actively engaged at the local, provincial and national levels, Tuckey noted.

Frank Cohn has received the prestigious Renovator of the Year award three times over a span of 25 years.

“His leadership and efforts have helped raise the standard for all renovators and have contributed to enhancing the public image of renovators in the GTA,” Tuckey said in introducing Cohn. “He runs a one-man show and with the collaboration of trusted suppliers continues to meet and exceed customer expectations.”

IT’S A TIE!

BILD would like to congratulate all the winners and finalists. A complete list of winners can be found in the GTA section of renomark.ca .
